Atiku hosts Aisha Buhari in Abuja, calls for better Nigeria

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday hosted Aisha Buhari, wife of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, at his residence in Abuja.
Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), disclosed the visit in a post on his X handle, describing it as warm and deeply appreciated.
According to him, the visit also served as a reminder of the responsibility of those seeking a better Nigeria to prioritise the welfare, dignity and future of Nigerians.
“Today, I was delighted to receive former First Lady, H.E. Aisha Buhari,” Atiku wrote.
“Her visit was warm and deeply appreciated. Beyond the courtesies of the occasion, it was also a reminder of the urgent responsibility before all who seek a better Nigeria: to put the welfare, dignity and future of our people first.”
The former vice-president said many Nigerian families were being stretched by rising costs of food, transportation, education, healthcare and other basic necessities.
He added that Nigerians deserved an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunities and enables families to live with dignity and hope.
“That is the Nigeria we must build together, a country that works for its people again,” Atiku said.
“We must ease the burden, restore hope and Make Nigeria Affordable Again.”
The purpose of Aisha Buhari’s visit was not disclosed.
Aisha and members of her family relocated from Daura, Katsina State, to the family’s residence in Ungwan Rimi GRA, Kaduna, following the death of the former president in London on July 13, 2025.
In May 2026, Yusuf Buhari won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in Katsina State.
