Sultan urges FG to equip Immigration Service with modern technology
*Decries use of social media platforms for promotion of hatred, ethnic profiling

The multifaceted leader, who is also the Co-President of the World’s Religions for Peace headquartered in New York, also condemned banditry and other forms of criminality, emphasizing that Islam does not support violence or the killing of innocent people.
The Sultan made the appeal while receiving participants of the 13th Staff Course of the Nigeria Immigration Command and Staff College, Sokoto, during a courtesy visit to his palace in Sokoto on Thursday June 25, 2026.
Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for its critical role in safeguarding the nation’s borders and addressing emerging security challenges, stressing that adequate equipment and continuous capacity building are essential for effective service delivery.
The multifaceted leader, who is also the Co-President of the World’s Religions for Peace headquartered in New York, also condemned banditry and other forms of criminality, emphasizing that Islam does not support violence or the killing of innocent people.
He further decried the use of social media to promote hatred and ethnic profiling, urging Nigerians to refrain from associating crime with any ethnic or religious group. According to him, criminals should simply be regarded as criminals, irrespective of their background.
Earlier, the Commandant of the Nigeria Immigration Command and Staff College, Sokoto, Assistant Comptroller General Ahmed Dauda Bagari, said the visit was to seek the Sultan’s blessings and benefit from his fatherly advice.
Bagari explained that the 13th Staff Course is designed to equip participants with leadership skills, strategic thinking, and critical decision-making abilities needed to effectively tackle emerging challenges and enhance service delivery.
He added that the course has 68 participants drawn from various formations of the Nigeria Immigration Service across the country.
