Sultan of Sokoto chairs 8th Northern traditional Rulers Council meeting in Jigawa

The meeting provided a platform for discussions on strengthening collaboration between traditional institutions and government authorities in addressing contemporary challenges facing the region.
The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, on Monday June 15, 2926, presided over the 8th Executive Council meeting of Northern Traditional Rulers Council (NTRC) held at the Jigawa State Government House in Dutse, the state capital.

The high-level meeting brought together prominent traditional rulers, government leaders, security chiefs, and other stakeholders from across Northern Nigeria to deliberate on issues affecting the region, including peace, security, unity, and socio-economic development.

Sultan Abubakar, who serves as Chairman of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council, led the proceedings with the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, as the hosting state leader. Also in attendance were the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, senior government officials, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, and several distinguished personalities from across different sectors.
Among the eminent traditional rulers present at the gathering were Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, Emir of Bauchi is Alhaji (Dr.) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, the Emir of Gummi, His Royal Highness Retired Justice Lawal Hassan Gummi, and the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Samaila Muhammadu Mera, CON.
Others included the Emir of Kauran Namoda, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Major) Sanusi Mohammed Ahmad Asha (Rtd), the Emir of Katagum, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Umar Farouk II, and the Emir of Dutse, His Royal Highness Muhammad Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, alongside numerous other first-class emirs and traditional leaders from across Northern Nigeria.
The meeting provided a platform for discussions on strengthening collaboration between traditional institutions and government authorities in addressing contemporary challenges facing the region.
Participants emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, fostering unity, promoting security, and advancing sustainable development for the benefit of all Northerners in particular and Nigerians in general.
The Northern Traditional Rulers Council remains a vital forum through which traditional rulers contribute to nation-building, community development, conflict resolution, and the preservation of cultural values across the northern states.
While details will be given later, Our Reporter said in the meantime that the gathering has concluded with prayers for continued peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria, as well as for wisdom, strength, and good health for the Sultan of Sokoto His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and other leaders entrusted with positions of authority and responsibility in the country.
