Massive crowd in Sokoto rallies behind Hon. Umar Yusuf Yabo, endorses ADC ahead of 2027 elections

“Today is not just about presenting a form. It is about presenting hope to our people and declaring that Nigeria deserves better leadership,” he said.

Thousands of supporters on Saturday gathered across Yabo and Shagari communities in Sokoto State as House of Representatives member Umar Yusuf Yabo formally presented his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The lawmaker, who represents the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency, was received by a large crowd of supporters, party loyalists, youth groups, women associations, traditional stakeholders, and political allies in what observers described as a major political gathering in the state.

Supporters flooded major streets carrying ADC flags and chanting slogans in support of the party and its growing political movement. The atmosphere in the constituency was marked by celebrations and public displays of solidarity as residents turned out in large numbers for the event.

Addressing the crowd after presenting his nomination forms, Yabo said the move symbolised a renewed commitment to addressing the challenges facing Nigerians, including insecurity, unemployment, economic hardship, and poverty.

“Today is not just about presenting a form. It is about presenting hope to our people and declaring that Nigeria deserves better leadership,” he said.

The federal lawmaker stated that the ADC represents a platform focused on justice, accountability, competence, and people-oriented governance, adding that many Nigerians were increasingly embracing the party as an alternative political force ahead of the next elections.

He also assured constituents that his return to the National Assembly would bring more development projects, empowerment opportunities, and stronger representation for the people of Yabo and Shagari.

“I stand before you not just as a politician, but as your son and servant, committed to defending the interests of ordinary Nigerians, especially youths, women, and vulnerable communities,” he added.

Speaking on the growing popularity of the ADC, Yabo said the party had evolved into a national movement attracting support from different parts of the country.

According to him, the large turnout at the event reflected the desire of many Nigerians for political change in 2027.

Community leaders, youth organisations, women groups, and political stakeholders at the event publicly endorsed his re-election bid and pledged support for the ADC in Sokoto State.

Several speakers commended the lawmaker’s performance in office, citing empowerment programmes, educational support initiatives, constituency projects, and accessibility to constituents as reasons for their continued support.

The event later turned into a political rally as supporters marched through major streets in celebration, reaffirming their commitment to the ADC ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Political observers say the development could further boost the momentum of the ADC in Northern Nigeria as preparations for the 2027 general elections gradually gather pace.
