How IGP Tunji Disu, as young officer, saved my life under house arrest – Obasanjo

“I need to thank our current IGP. I have to in a special way acknowledge you because maybe the reason I’m alive today is because you are one of those who kept me alive when I was under house arrest”, Obasanjo stated.

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has recounted his experience with the new Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, narrating the role of the new police chief as a young officer in his house arrest.

 

Obasanjo, while speaking at a book launch authored by former police chief Sunday Gabriel Ehindero, narrated how the current IGP, Tunji Disu, was helpful to him while he was under house arrest.

According to the former president, but for the help of Disu, he may have died during his house arrest.

“I need to thank our current IGP. I have to in a special way acknowledge you because maybe the reason I’m alive today is because you are one of those who kept me alive when I was under house arrest”, Obasanjo stated.

He also emphasised the importance of commitment and professionalism in the police force, noting that Tunji Disu rise to the position of IGP is through sheer dedication and professionalism.
