JUST IN: El-Rufai regains freedom after arrest

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been released following his earlier arrest by federal authorities.

El-Rufai’s arrest had generated significant political reactions across the country, with members of the opposition describing the move as politically motivated, while government officials maintained that due process was being followed.

The former governor had recently been in the spotlight over allegations relating to the interception of communications involving the National Security Adviser, a claim that formed the basis of charges reportedly filed against him.
