Stakeholders stress responsible journalism for nation building

Stakeholders in the media and corporate sectors have reiterated the importance of responsible journalism as a key driver of nation-building, transparency and public trust.
The call was made during a visit by Nestlé’s delegation to the headquarters of News Central Television in Lagos. Speaking at the engagement, Nestlé’s Head of Communications for Zone Asia, Oceania and Africa, Christina Macina, underscored the need for credible partnerships between the media and corporate organisations to promote informed public discourse and sustainable development.
Macina noted that ethical, accurate and responsible journalism plays a critical role in shaping public perception, influencing positive change and strengthening societal progress. She added that Nestlé values the media’s role in amplifying conversations around issues such as nutrition, sustainability, economic growth and initiatives that positively impact communities.
The Nestlé delegation was received by the management of News Central, providing an opportunity for discussions on the evolving media landscape and the challenges facing journalism in an era of rapid information flow.
In their remarks, News Central’s management commended Nestlé for its commitment to innovation, excellence and corporate responsibility. Both parties explored areas of mutual interest, including impactful storytelling that supports transparency, public trust and national development.
The engagement reaffirmed the shared belief that responsible journalism remains essential to democratic growth and sustainable societal advancement.
