Nigeria customs seize 3,461 parcels of cannabis in Ogun

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, says it intercepted 3,461 parcels of Cannabis sativa in various locations of the state.
The Area Comptroller, Olukayode Afeni, disclosed this while handing over the drugs to Olaniyi Ekundayo, Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Idiroko Special Area Command, Idiroko, yesterday.
Afeni explained that the handover was in line with the commitment to strengthen partnerships with other security agencies, combat drug trafficking, proliferation of small and light weapons, and ensure a safer society.
He said, “as part of our inter-agency collaboration, we are handing over the intercepted parcels of cannabis sativa to the commander of NDLEA. We are appealing to all traditional rulers to educate their youths on the danger of using drugs.”
The comptroller reiterated the command’s commitment to fighting smuggling activities that pose serious health and security problems to the nation.
In his response, Ekundayo said that the fight against the scourge is not limited to NDLEA but is a collective responsibility.
He lauded the commitment and dedication of the Customs Ogun 1 Area Command for always being on the field to apprehend smugglers and curb the menace.
