AFCON: Senegal qualifies for final as it beats Egypt 1-0

*To face one of Nigeria or Morroco at final

The francophone nation of Senegal in West Africa has qualified for final stage of the current season’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) championship.

This comes as its Sadio Mane scored a 78th-minute winner to give the Bassirou Faye led country a 1-0 victory over Egypt on Wednesday January 14, 2026 in their semi-final in Tangiers.

The former champions Senegal dominated possession against cautious Egypt and will face one of Morocco (host) or Nigeria on Sunday January 18, 2026 in the final.
