Again, Lauretta Onochie writes late Buhari, says “Nigerians now missing you”
*Notes Tinubu’s full compensation for core enemies of APC-led Buhari government
*As she exposes nepotism in president’s ambassadorial nominations

Former Special Assistant on Digital and Social Media to the President during the two-term civilian administration of Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, has reviewed the recent non nation of Ambassadorial candidates by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing a serious cause to worry.
Also the immediate past Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Onochie said, “We will overlook the glaring fact of rewarding those who mobilised hostilities against Pres. Buhari’s administration. Lets just have ambassadors,” she said.
In her X post on Sunday, however, she would not let go with area she considered to be unpardonable where the President gave the bulk of the impending ambassadorial appointments to his own Yoruba South West Nigeria.
“But hey, you are solidly in bed with nepotism.
South South—3
North West—5
North Central—5
North East—5
South East—6
South West—11,” she listed.
Earlier before then, Lauretta Onochie had written in a letter also posted on her X handle titled “TO FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI” that Nigerians are missing her forme boss whose memory she would not wish away in a hurry.
She said, “Your Excellency, Across the country today, from our cities to the quietest rural communities, Nigerians are saying something some never expected to say: “We miss Buhari.”
“Not because your administration was without flaws as with all governments across the world, but because the pain Nigerians are facing today cuts deeper than words can capture. Our people are overwhelmed — by insecurity, by hunger, by rising poverty, and by a growing sense that the nation is drifting dangerously and on the brink of the lower falls.
“In moments like this, Nigerians look back and remember the things they once overlooked:
“They remember your steadiness. Even in difficult times like the COVID-19 which threatened human existence, there was a sense of order, predictability, and calm at the centre of power. The world was amazed.
“They remember your discipline and modest lifestyle. You led with simplicity — no extravagance, no excessive display of affluence. That humility spoke to ordinary citizens.
“They remember your honesty with the nation.
You were transparent about your health, never hiding, never pretending. You respected Nigerians enough to tell them the truth and to hand over constitutionally whenever necessary.
“They remember a country that, though imperfect, still felt united. The divisions tearing through our nation today; tribal, religious, political and class, have reached frightening levels. Many now look back at your era as a time when Nigeria still held together.
“They remember the hope that came from steady national projects. Infrastructure, agriculture, social investment programmes, etc. Progress may have been slow, but it was visible, and Nigerians felt that the country was moving forward.
“Your Excellency, Nigerians are not comparing perfection to perfection — they are comparing pain to memory. And in that comparison, many now say with heavy hearts: “We didn’t know we would miss Buhari like this.”
“In order to rescue our nation from this freefall, we have joined hands with other well-meaning and patriotic Nigerians, to rescue our nation, using the Coalition Vehicle, ADC
“I write to echo the voice of millions of ordinary Nigerians, not out of politics, but out of bare and INCONTROVERTIBLE truth. People are hurting. People are afraid. People miss the stability and honesty they once felt under your leadership.
“We pray for your continued rest and peace, Baba. And we work earnestly for Nigeria so that hope will return, unity will be restored, and the suffering of our people will come to an end.
“We know we are guilty of installing this incompetent and clueless government but be assured that we are united in the bid to sack the government, come 2027.
“God bless Nigeria!”, she wrote.

Lauretta Onochie ¹
It will be recalled that Lauretta Onochie had written a letter published in The DEFENDER and Vanguard on August 15, 2025 wherein she lamented decline in values of the All Progressives Congress (APC) he left behind for his predecessor, Bola Tinubu.
She expressed dismay over what she described as the degeneration of the APC since Buhari’s exit from office on May 29, 2023.
In a strongly worded message posted on her verified Facebook page, Onochie said the party had lost the values Buhari championed – fairness, equity, justice, and accountability.
“Dear Baba, APC is now a Private Enterprise. It has lost all the values you stood for. Fairness, equity, justice, equality, etc., have all been kpaied,” she wrote, using a colloquial term implying the values have been discarded or destroyed.
Describing the current state of affairs within the ruling party, she lamented what she referred to as a culture of impunity and reward for wrongdoing.
“APC chieftains assault airport staff. They hijack planes and then are rewarded as ambassadors. Iniquities are sprayed with roses and perfumes; unless you belong to the opposition,” Onochie wrote.
Despite her grievances, she assured the late former president that his followers would not abandon the principles he upheld.
“Sorry Baba, there’s no more APC. Thank you for showing us that righteousness is possible among Nigerians and in Nigeria. God bless your soul,” she concluded.
