Emir of Zuru passes away at 81

“We regret to announce the passing of Emir of Zuru, he was a courageous traditional ruler,” said the Commissioner.
In a significant loss for the Zuru Emirate and the people of Kebbi State, Major General Muhammad Sani Sami Goma II (Rtd), the Emir of Zuru, has succumbed to an undisclosed illness while undergoing treatment in London, United Kingdom.
He passed away in the early hours of Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 81.
The announcement of his death was made by Abubakar Dustin Mari, Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who expressed deep sorrow over the Emir’s passing.
In his statement, the Commissioner highlighted the late Emir’s legacy as a courageous traditional ruler and noted that he is survived by four wives and seven children.
“We regret to announce the passing of Emir of Zuru, he was a courageous traditional ruler,” said the Commissioner.
The Kebbi State government has extended its condolences to the deceased Emir’s immediate family, the Zuru Emirate, and the entire community, offering prayers for strength and solace during this difficult time.
Further details regarding the burial arrangements are expected to be announced later, according to the state government.
The Emir’s death marks a notable loss not only for the Zuru Emirate but for the heritage and leadership of the Kebbi State community.
