The naivety of a master strategist – Pascal Ononye

Buhari’s refusal to prevail on his people, not to align with the Coalition, made Tinubu so angry that he launched an attack on President Buhari, and openly said he inherited a near empty treasury. He has “officially” joined in demarketing his own party on whose platform he plans to run in 2027. Who does that? Naive master strategist.
President Bola Tinubu’s administration has faced significant challenges that have led to widespread discontent among Nigerians. But if you ask me, I will say that he brought it upon himself.
Key factors contributing to this include:

Economic Hardships:
The removal of fuel subsidies has resulted in a sharp increase in fuel prices, leading to higher transportation costs and a general rise in the cost of living.
The devaluation of the Nigerian naira has further exacerbated inflation, making essential goods and services less affordable for many citizens. These economic policies, while aimed at long-term economic reform, have created immediate and severe financial strain on the population.
Added to these, is the general perception that Tinubu’s team, is out of date and did not understand modern ways of economic approach.
INSECURITY:
Nigeria continues to grapple with widespread insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency in various parts of the country.
Concerns persist about the government’s ability to effectively address these security challenges. President Buhari spent a fortune on equipping the sorry military he inherited. Progress was made and insurgency rate dropped to the lowest level in years. But many Nigerians are now asking what happened to all those equipment procured.
Controversies and Allegations:
Allegations surrounding the president’s past and questions about his credentials have fueled public distrust. President Tinubu can actually, clear this suspicion by coming clean and providing evidence of his credentials and non complicit in criminal cases in the United States.
There are also concerns about glaring nepotism and ethnic bias in government appointments that have also contributed to dissatisfaction. Again, front runners in the Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign, have been bypassed in favour of old friends and acquaintances.
Again, there is the issue of appointment for cash. Appointees are more focused on recouping the money they used in buying their appointments.
Many say the president is overwhelmed and hardly remembers what he has approved. The inability of President Tinubu to remember things, means that after he has made deserving appointments, some of his Aides, swap his appointments with low calibre appointees paid for by governors, lawmakers and crooks.
Politically, most APC members, who would have been supporting Tinubu’s government, are offended by the silly and naive antics of Tinubu and his supporters, in constantly castigating former President Muhammadu Buhari, a progressive Democrat with cult followership.
According to an insider, Tinubu got wind of Buhari’s core supporters’ plans to dump APC. He sent APC Governors to go and beg Buhari to stop them. He told thst that everyone is free to do as they please.
Then he sent the APC leadership. He also went to see Buhari in London and Buhari’s answer to him was the same he gave the Governors and the party.
Adding to the disaffection is Tinubu’s impunity in disregarding the laws, the constitution and separation of powers.
The high inflation rates, the increased cost of food and other day to day items, the political naivety of a master strategist, have caused a large impact on the lives of many Nigerians. Losing the support of his core supporters, is a large factor in the declining profile of the Tinubu government. In essence, the combination of economic difficulties, security concerns, naive and childish political maneuvers, have created a challenging environment for the Tinubu administration, leading to widespread public dissatisfaction.
As his second year anniversary approaches, it’s left to be seen if Tinubu will change his ways. If not, it will be a landslide for the coalition.
