INEC rejects petition to recall Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has faulted the petition submitted for the recall of the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Senate.

The petition was said to have emanated from some members of her constituency.

But the INEC said it rejected the idea being that it lacked the fulfillment of the laws guiding recall of an elected legislator.

The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, in a statement on Tuesday March 25, 3025, said the petition did not comply with the process of recall as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 as well as the Commission’s detailed Regulations and Guidelines for Recall 2024.
