What Buhari told me when I asked him to reveal his desired successor – El-Rufai

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-rufai, says former President Muhammadu Buhari did not have a preferred candidate to succeed him during the 2023 presidential election.
El-Rufai spoke night of Monday February 24, 2025 when he appeared on Arise TV programme.

According to the former governor, prior to the primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Buhari upon inquiry, asked delegates to vote their conscience.
He said, “I met the delegates in Kaduna State and they said they will vote for Tinubu, someone who has what it takes to win the election.
“I told them that they should wait let me meet the president and ask him who he wants.
“By the time I met Buhari, he said I should tell the delegates to vote their conscience. I returned to them and told them to vote for their conscience”.
