The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has issued a stern warning to its members against engaging in anti-party activities, emphasizing that violators will face strict disciplinary actions.

Speaking in Abuja during the party’s annual verification exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the NNPP national headquarters, the National Chairman, Dr. Ajuri Ahmed, reiterated the party’s zero-tolerance policy for actions that undermine its principles.

“This is a democratic party. However, we shall not tolerate members who engage in anti-party activities with impunity,” Dr. Ahmed stated.

Dr. Ahmed added that, “No matter how highly placed, all members are expected to remain disciplined and operate within the ambit of our constitution. The internal mechanisms of our party shall be guarded jealously.”

He assured members that the NNPP remains committed to strict adherence to its constitution, highlighting its role as the ruling party in Kano State and its mission as a constructive opposition elsewhere.

He announced that a comprehensive constitutional status document would be distributed to members through the Legal and Publicity directorates to reinforce their understanding of party guidelines.

Reacting to claims from expelled members alleging leadership disputes, Dr. Ahmed dismissed them as unfounded. He criticized the expelled individuals for collaborating with rival parties to destabilize the NNPP.

“These individuals have made themselves tools in the hands of another party, spreading falsehoods and propaganda,” Dr. Ahmed said. “They claim the management of the party has been handed over to them. Well, today’s INEC exercise reaffirms that we have been, we are, and by God’s grace, shall continue to be the New Nigeria Peoples Party.”

The annual INEC verification exercise, a routine assessment of registered political parties in Nigeria, garnered heightened attention this year due to controversies surrounding the NNPP’s leadership.

Dr. Ahmed praised INEC for fulfilling its statutory role, affirming that the verification underscores the legitimacy and stability of the NNPP’s leadership.

“We remain focused on our vision for a New Nigeria, and we will not allow distractions from disgruntled individuals,” he concluded.
