BANDITRY: Zamfara Police Command rescues 9 abducted children

The Zamfara State Police Command has rescued nine children abducted by bandits on Saturday in Gora Namaye village.

According to a press release issued by the state Police Public Relations (PPRO), ASP Yazid Abubakar, the command had on 3rd June, 2023 at about 2014 hours information received from the District Head of Gora Namaye village that the said number of children, male and female who were sent errands by their parents to fetch firewood, were abducted by armed bandits.

The press release revealed that joint police and other security agencies mobilised to the scene and commenced search and rescue operation, which led to rescue of all the nine children and reuniting them with their families unconditionally.

According to the release, handed to The DEFENDER in Gusau on Sunday, efforts were still on to trace the hoodlums for prosecution.

Meanwhile, joint police and military patrol is being intensified around the axis to prevent reoccurrence of the incident, the release concluded.
