2023 Presidency: Atiku Youth Office makes 18 key appointments
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Youth and Support Groups office of His Excellency, former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has taken proactive steps by making key appointments.
From documents gathered, signed by the SA to Atiku on Youth Support Groups, Ambassador ALIYU Bin Abbas, the appointments are geared towards ushering in better governance for Nigeria.
“Our Dear Nation, Nigeria, is at a very defining moment; people of conscience volunteer their passion, skills, and experience towards adding values to improve the quality of leadership and grooming future ones.
“The task to legitimately pilot the affairs of our Nation for a better tomorrow that guarantees good governance and freedom for all must start now by identifying genuine patriots capable of achieving such strides.
“It is because of this that I present to you young, noble, and committed individuals from the Six Geo-political zones of our nation, who have been carefully selected to galvanize and harness the potentials of patriotic citizens, especially the youths, for the actualization of a new Nigeria, the dream of every well-meaning patriot,” he said.
According to the letter conveyed to the appointees, Ambassador Abbas welcomed them on board.
“The commitment to advance the re-organization of Youth and support groups is a fit that
we are committed.
“In view of the current realities, I wish to welcome you on board the coordinating boardroom as we all strategize and advance our commitment towards ensuring that H. E Atiku Abubakar GCON is delivered come 2023 as the president
“While looking forward to a great time of working with you, accept the assurances of my
best regards,” he said.
Those appointed are; Secretary, Bar Sunday C. Umeha, Chief of Staff, Comrade Hamza Nasarawa, Director Programme & Operations, Mr. Obande G. Obande, Deputy Director Programme & Operations, Comrade Rukayya Ahmed Alibe, North Central Director, Hon Abdulrahman Etudaiye and North East Director, Hon Ibrahim Ali Amsami.
Also appointed were South West Director, Hon. Orishamoluwa Adekunle, North West Director, Comrade Isah Abubakar, South South Director, Comrade Samuel Eno Okoi, South East Director, Comrade Martha Okenna, Director Special Duties, Hon Maciohson Chikone Odev and Director Media and Publicity.
It will be recalled that the most powerful Northern youth group the NYLF rejected all the overtures made by H. E. Atiku to the Forum promising each of the NEC members a huge sum of money and a house each in any location before and after the Forum endorsed H. E. Senator Bala Mohammed.
The President of NYLF Comrade Elliot Afiyo refused to honour Invitations, Offers and promises made by their Excellencies Atiku and Tambuwal which made them to form parallel youth groups. Not withstanding, their Excellencies are not comfortable because all the Patrons of NYLF refused to recognized or received the groups except Comrade Afiyo.
The S.A. to Atiku on Interest groups Chief Nat. Yaduma and the P.A. Alh. Jauro made frantic efforts to convince Comrade Afiyo not to present the letter of endorsement to Gov. Bala to no avail as Comrade Afiyo has made up his mind to support Gov. Bala Mohammed.
This is the first time since the establishment of NYLF in 1994 that the President will come out clearly and publicly to endorse and support an Aspirant.
Reacting to this development, the North West coordinator Dr. Jubrin Ubale and his counterpart in North Central Dr. Sadiq Yahaya said in the BBC Hausa today that there’s nothing wrong in what their President is doing because it was the decision of the Forum.
It is also believed that Comrade Afiyo is fully backed by some political, Religious and traditional leaders and there’s full assurance that Gov. Bala Mohammed will become President in 2023.
Whether Comrade Afiyo will be able to withstand these pressures till the party’s primary elections is something to be seen. NNN
