2019 Ticket: Presidency replies South West Leaders, says Buhari more concerned with easing inherited sufferings of Nigerians for now

The Presidency, on Friday, replied the South West leaders, who emerged from a meeting in the Government House Ibadan with a declaration that there will be no automatic ticket for President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 presidential elections.

It said there was no need for argument against or for over whether there will be automatic ticket or not for the performing President as what preoccupies his mind currently is to fix Nigeria and ease the inherited sufferings of ordinary Nigerians.

Responding to a text message questionnaire from The DEFENDER, on Friday, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Ms Lauretta Onochie, said the priority of her boss, for now against the needless politicking over 2019, was to bring relief to all Nigerians.

The woman, called in some quarters as Amazon of the Villa, said in her reply to the text: “My take is that the President is preoccupied with delivering the dividends of democracy and easing the inherited sufferings of ordinary Nigerians.

“His priority is to bring relief to all Nigerians, in the areas of their needs.  That’s his focus,” she said.

It would be recalled that former Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, speaking on behalf of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who could not attend the Ibadan meeting on “health grounds”, had told reporters that President Buhari would have to follow the process for choosing a candidate for an election to be able to grab the party’s ticket in 2019 “If he is lucky to have the ticket”.

The meeting was attended by South West governors, ministers, lawmakers and other stakeholders in the region.
