We’ve not seen a Yoruba man held by EFCC, ICPC, they are now all suddenly saints’ – Prof Usman

“You have seen Tinubu government going after Northerners and South east people for arrest and detain, in all of this we will have a reply for Tinubu and his government in 2027.”
A statement attributed to Professor Yusuf Usman, former Executive Secretary National Health Insurance Scheme, has stirred reactions after he alleged selective anti-corruption enforcement by Nigeria’s key agencies.

According to him, there have been no visible cases of Yoruba individuals being arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). He suggested that this trend creates the impression that “every Yoruba man is a saint.”
Usman further claimed that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disproportionately targeted individuals from Northern Nigeria and the South-East region for arrests and detention.
He added that there would be a political response to the current administration’s actions in the 2027 general elections.
“We’ve not seen a single Yoruba man grabbed by EFCC or ICPC. All of a sudden every Yoruba man are saints,” said Usman.
He continued, “You have seen Tinubu government going after Northerners and South east people for arrest and detain, in all of this we will have a reply for Tinubu and his government in 2027.”
