As one of the activities to mark his first 100 days in office as elected Governor of Ondo State, South West Nigeria, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Friday May 30, 2025, commissioned the newly reconstructed Gbangbalogun Axis Road in Akure community of the state capital.

At the ceremony attended by Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, and three other Obas of Akure South Local Government namely; Osolo of Isolo, Oba Edward Kolawole Adewole, Akesoogun Orisa Obaluaye Mosu, Olujoka of Ijoka, Oba Anthony Ejide Oluwalade, and Regent of Olojoda of Oda, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the inaugurated road project marks a pivotal step in his administration’s infrastructural renewal agenda, aimed at driving urban transformation and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Held at Oke Isegun in the Gbangbalogun area of the town, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa described the event as significant as it was taking place during his first 100 days in office.
That milestone achievement, he said, underscores his Administration’s focus on delivering impactful governance through the “OUR EASE” agenda—a policy blueprint centered on infrastructure, social development, and economic efficiency.
The DEFENDER reports that the Gbangbalogun axis road connects Irowo Road-Arakale–Oke Aro–Idanre roads, which had for years been in deplorable condition.
On Friday, the Governor, according to a statement by Ebenezer Adeniyan,
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Aiyedatiwa also said pre-intervention assessments revealed extensive pavement failures, severe cracking, potholes, and structural deterioration that rendered the road burdensome to motorists and commuters alike.
“This event, occurring within our Administration’s first 100 days in office, unequivocally underscores our resolute commitment to impactful progress. This road project is a strategic intervention designed not only to ease traffic congestion but also to stimulate economic activity and improve public welfare.
“The Gbangbalogun axis is a vital urban artery. Our intervention here is part of a broader infrastructure strategy that ensures improved access, boosts economic vibrancy, and reduces vehicle maintenance costs for our people”, he said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised that the timing of the road’s rehabilitation aligns with ongoing work on the larger Oke-Aro–Idanre Road, which flagged off, recently.
He explained that fixing the Gbangbalogun link ahead of the main arterial route was a calculated and proactive decision to avoid future traffic bottlenecks and support efficient traffic distribution in the area.
He then thanked the residents and road users in the Gbangbalogun axis for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period.
He acknowledged the inconvenience that often comes with major civil works but noted that their understanding was vital to the project’s success.
