Femi Fani-Kayode: He is one of Nigerians who throw fake news to public sphere in the country under what many describes as his effort to cause confusion because he too is on trial for corruption.

“My sister who is a US citizen asked to warn Nigerians that one of the damaging tricks the Russian hackers did was to send fake news that Trump was seriously leading while voting was in progress. This discouraged the democrats. Feeling hopeless they stopped going out to vote. Pls tell all our people to disregard any report being circulated while voting is ongoing.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s chieftain, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, may have begun to actualize what was earlier in 24 hours before Saturday presidential election described churning out of fake news to make his party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar look like winning to weaken the support base of All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fani-Kayode, who recently apologised for one of his many fake news posts posted on his social media particularly the Facebook, posted in some 25 minutes to the filing of this report that PDP’s Atiku was sweeping the South West, South East and North Central.

He said: “Things are looking good as Atiku appears to be sweeping the SW, SS, SE and NC. We are on course and I am cautiously optimistic that he will be declared the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in a matter of days. I advise Buhari to start packing his bags!”

But Fani-Kayode was quickly tackled by Concerned Citizens Group, which called attention of Nigerians to an earlier warning to Nigerians to beware of PDP’s plans to do exactly what Femi Fani-Kayode has just done.

Headed by Mr. Wale Ogunyemi, the group quoted the warning by one of the unnamed source but which had gone viral on social media some 24 hours before the election.

He said: “My sister who is a US citizen asked to warn Nigerians that one of the damaging tricks the Russian hackers did was to send fake news that Trump was seriously leading while voting was in progress. This discouraged the democrats. Feeling hopeless they stopped going out to vote. Pls tell all our people to disregard any report being circulated while voting is ongoing.”

In the meantime, the CCG has assured Nigerians that Nigerians, on Saturday, had resolved to repeat what they did in 2015 in support of the candidate they believe could take Nigeria from roguery, looting, insecurity inflicting set of politicians to a nation of integrity, security, respect for the rule of law and development.

“If you hear anybody saying Atiku is sweeping the South West, it is like to say that South West where Yemi Osinbajo the Vice President comes from says they do not want integrity, rule of law and development but that they want rogues and shameless corrupt politicians they joined the Northern Nigeria in sending out of power for damaging the country’s economy and mismanaging our life system, which is not correct.

“We all know the antecedents of Femi Fani-Kayode and know his penchant for lying like satan.  We are here telling him that, misleading news or not, we can never be weakened.  We have done it well again for President Muhammadu Buhari and so there is no amount of fake news any PDP person particularly this Fani-Kayode, who can lie to wake up a dead man, can post that will affect our resolve to see through the process that will eventually pronounce President Buhari as winner of yesterday (Saturday 23 February 2019) polls.  Nigerians who believe in Buhari should stay calm.  That is our message,” CCG said.
