Zamfara State Govt launches fertilizer sales to farmers, 2000 to benefit

The Zamfara State government has launched the sales of fertilizer to be befitted by over 2000 farmers across the state on cash and carry basis.

Speaking during the formal flag-off ceremony, which took place at the headquarters of Zamfara State Comprehensive Agriculture Revolution Programme (ZACAREP) in Gusau, Governor Mohammed Bello Matawalle said other farm products were also procured for farmers.

The governor added that the fertilizer was carefully procured to meet with the needs of farmers so as to cultivate more farm produce for the coming season.

He explained that over 3000 tones of fertiliser had been procured to be distributed to over 2000 farmers at subsidised rate, to boost food security in the state.

Matawalle, to this end, revealed that government workers would be provided with the same gesture and hectres of land.

Speaking earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on ZACAREP, Alhaji Yusuf Jafaru Rawayya, said the fertilizer would be sold to farmers at subsidised rate of N15,000 per bag.

He charged beneficiaries to make good use of the fertilizer procured for them, while warning that anybody found diverting the product will be arrested and charged to court.

He gave the warning,adding that the state government has done well to the farmers.
