Zamfara govt distributes food items, others worth N1.8b to less privileged at Ramadan

Zamfara State Government, on Sunday, commenced the distribution of food items worth one point N1.8 billion to the less privileged in the state as part of the Ramadan welfare package.

Governor of the state, Hon. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, disclosed this during a statewide broadcast from the Government House Gusau, the state capital.

Matawalle said the commodities to be distributed include rice, maize, millet, sugar, cooking oil, eggs and clothing materials.

According to him, the state government found it necessary to assist the less privileged in the state during the month of Ramadan, considering the hardship being faced as a result of banditry and COVID-19 pandemic.

In a related development, the governor also tasked the Ulama to do more on the existing security situation in the state and the country in general.

Matawalle charged the Chief Imams of Juma’at Mosques in the state to redouble their efforts in prayers for peace to prevail in the state, adding that, government noted that nothing passes the power of prayer.
