Zamfara Police Command arrests 7 security agents for aiding banditry

By IBRAHIM KANOMA, Gusau

The Zamfara State police command has arrested seven security agents involved in aiding bandiry activities across the state.

This was disclosed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, while giving update on joint press conference between the ministry and that of Internal Security and Home Affairs in his office on Thursday.

He said since the commencement of the military operations in the state, the arrested security agents had been sabotaging the operation by sharing military intelligence, supplying arms and ammunition, military uniforms and other facilities to the bandits to prevent the soldiers from conquering the bandits.

He said the suspects had already been handed to their appropriate security authories for further necessaary actions.

Commissioner Dosara further communicated the appeal by Zamfara State Government to President Muhammadu Buhari to redeem his pledge on the deployment of 6,000 troops to the state to clear the recalcitrant bandits terrorizing various communities in the state and urged the military authorities to embark up active supervision and monitoring of the military operations to ensure synergy and effectiveness of the war against terrorists.

The state government, according to him, will continue to cooperate and work hand-in-hand with the security communities to achieve the desired objective.

The government, therefore, advised people to always provide useful information to security agents working in the state, which he described as a prelude to restoring the lost glory of Zamfara State as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.
