Zamfara govt to commence free bus ride for female students

The zamfara state government has finalize all necessary arrangements to convey female students to their respective schools free of charge on daily basis.
This was announced by the state Commissioner overseeing the activities of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Abdulmalik Gajam, during a press conference in Gusau, on Monday June 15, 2026.
He said the programme, when fully implemented, would ensure that all female students are conveyed safely to band from their schools in good time.
Gajam said the state government had designed new policies and programme that are aimed at revamping the educational systems in the state with a view to ensuring that all children in Zamfara have access to quality education, having a conducive learning facilities
He said the government had also approved the renovation, rehabilitation and reconstruction of 20 schools across the 14 local government areas with provision of all the necessary facilities and equipments that can enhance learning activities.
He further said a new criteria for appointment of all heads of educational institutions ranging from rectors/provosts to principals of schools and other educational parastatals had been designed to ensure competence and dedication in the discharge of the office responsibilities.
He said, “henceforth all farming activities within the school premises are banned and all those occupying schools quarters illegally should vacate them within one month”, while also urging principals to ensure compliance.
