Zamfara Gov Dauda presents N432.5b 2024 budget

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has presented the 2024 appropriation to the state House of Assembly to the tune of N432,523,730.

Presenting the budget, titled, “Rescue Budget”, to the Assembly, on Thursday, Governor Lawal said that N113,134,734 is for recurrent expenditure representing 30 percent.

He said N305,389,000 is for capital expenditure which represents seventy percent of the budget.

Breaking down the budget, Governor Dauda disclosed that education, security, health, and infrastructure have the highest allocation with a view to rescue the state from eminent collapse of infrastructures

He explained that the budget will place specific emphasis on education including improvement of Schools adding that, Security Trust Fund was also inaugurated as well as recruitment of 4,300 community protection guard to support conventional Security agencies in the fight of all criminal activities.

According to the governor, all the ongoing projects would be completed in the year 2024 while new roads projects would also commence in Mallamawa to Bukuyum, Bukuyum to Zoma to Gumi, Maradun to Makera, Kwatarkwashi to Mada among others.

Also speaking during the presentation, the Speaker Zamfara State Assembly, Nasiru Ismaila Moriki highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the present administration, and commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his rescue vision and mission for the development of the State in his six points agenda.

The speaker also acknowledged the good working relationship between the executive and the legislature in the State, and assured of a speedy passage of the budget which now passed the second reading.
