Zamfara First Lady assures NIWIA of support to boost agriculture

The Zamfara State Chapter of Nigerian Association of Women In Agriculture (NIWIA), on Saturday 9th March, 2024, joined women in the world in celebrating International Women’s Day with an ceremony organised to mark the event.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriya Dauda, assured women in the state, particularly members of NIWIA that her office was always ready to assist women in all self reliant programmes.
According to Huriya Dauda, her husband had recently launched distribution of farm produce to Zamfara State farmers including the women folks.
She added that her office would liaise with NIWIA to cultivate farm products in effort to feed not only Zamfara State but Nigeria in general.
Speaking earlier, Coordinator of the Nigerian Association of Women in Agriculture (NIWIA) the state state chapter, Hajiya Shema’u Muhammad Nalado, praised and thanked God for making it possible to witness the great occasion of the International Women’s Day for 2024.
“This is an international occasion celebrated all over the world and Zamfara State is not left-out. Let’s all honour, respect and adore all the amazing women in all our life on this International Women’s Day, whether they are our mother, wife or daughter. Let’s demonstrate our pride in their achievements and commitment to build a world free of all ills from women.
“Women are the ones who bring life. and every woman is extraordinary, no matter where she works whether it’s a home or office. They are making a difference to the world around her, and most importantly, they are a vital role in the upbringing of children and making a home,” she disclosed
According to the chapter head, “it is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, culture, economic or political.”
Nalado added that, the International Women’s Day is a public holiday in several countries, promoting the achievements of women.
“The UN observes the holiday in connection with a particular issue, campaign, or theme in women’s rights. Happy International Women’s Day, she is a dreamer, she is a believer, she is a doer, she is an achiever, and that she is “YOU”. Happy Women’s day,” she said.
The coordinator maintained that, this life has no existence without a strong ally in women in every stage of life starting from motherhood to wife, sister and finally a daughter.
She further disclosed that the Women’s Day stands for the value of women in the world as well as their rights.
“Women are still battling for rights in many parts of the world, and the women’s rights movement and feminism movement have been around for more than a century. Happy Women’s Day to all the women who are unafraid to speak their truth and stand up for what they believe in,” she said.
The secretary of the association, Hadiza Haruzu, said they have plans to open branches in all the Local Governments of the state to ensure that women are fully involved in agriculture to boost food production .
