As “PDP members very sympathetic to coalition”, it suggests, like Nyesom Wike who stays inside the PDP to support President Bola Tinubu in 2027, that the Owokoniran-led Lagos PDP coalition can also effectively stay inside the party and support opposition coalition believed to be more fitted to their condition of committing to any democratic action considered capable enough to wrestle power with Tinubu, rescue the country from him therefore and take the power back to the people in 2027.
Some leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, led by Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, have declared their allegiance to the Atiku Abubakar-led coalition and the recently adopted political party for the movement, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

They made this declaration via a communique issued after a emergency meeting of what they called Lagos State leaders and members the state, held in Isolo, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area of the state, recently.
The communique had as its signatories Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, Otunba Okanlawon, Chief Onita Coker, Dr. Lekan Lawal, Hon. Kayode Jacobs, Babatunde Olanrewaju, Barrister Kehinde Oshinowo, Chief Baba Jegede, Dr. Babs Akinlolu, Barrister Niran Akinsanya, Chief Dapo Sarumi, and Akeem Kolawole Olanrewaju.
The Lagos PDP coalition said, “We the concerned members of PDP From The 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State met at Ire Akari Estate, Isolo, Lagos today, June 26, 2025.
“We diligently considered recent troubling events in our Party at the National level and Lagos Chapter in particular.”
According to the statement, “After much deliberations as responsible Leaders and Representatives with total commitment to bringing power to the people, we concluded that we owe it a duty to ensure that our people should be properly guided and informed.
“In conclusion to the deliberations, motions were moved with amendmements and secondment followed by an overwhelming and enthusiastic ‘YES’ vote to the resolutions put on the table.
The DEFENDER’s checks revealed that the meeting concluded on six listed resolutions including “1. The leadership confusion in the party which got to its head in the last 24hrs is a clear signal that the party is sorely sick and therefore needs sincere attention of concerned members
“2. That from all indications, the driver’s seat of the party has been hijacked by extraneous forces
“3. That clear direction must be sought by well-intentioned party leaders and members to ensure that the party does not waste the time and resources of members willing to genuinely contest political offices to serve our father land
“4. That the party as it is today lacks the capacity to stand alone to face the 2027 elections without coalition, alliance or collaboration.
“5. That also, Lagos PDP in particular cannot face the 2027 elections without deep and strong relationship with other political parties and well-meaning organizations
“6. That we resolve to go into the coalition to redeem our country’s drifting fortune and democratic aberrations. And more importantly to take back our Lagos and restore her excellence.”
In the end the made a solid pronouncement that saw them being assertive saying they made the decision to move forward with ADC because, “From our resolve as shown above, we become PDP members very sympathetic to COALITION as way forward and pledge our commitment to every democratic actions that will bring POWER TO THE PEOPLE.*
