The Nigerian Consolidation Ambassador Network (NCAN), a group that bought Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enable President Muhammadu Buhari to seek the presidential ticket of the ruling Party to participate in the February 2019 general elections, has replied critics that it violated no section of the law doing so.

National Coordinator of the group, Mallam Sanusi Musa, a lawyer, addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday also dismissed the insinuation that the group got the money from Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

Musa, who said his NCAN took time to study the legal provisions before taking step, added that the existing laws being cited by critics referred to contributions in support of a party’s candidate in an election and not an individual who would only become an aspirant after completing the screening exercise.

On the alleged connection to Governor Bello, he said that he had never met the Kogi State governor talk less that he would receive funds from him.

Sanusi Musa, who said the funds were raised by members from their hard earned resources, expressed the readiness of the group to formally present the forms to President Buhari any moment from now.

There had been diverse hearsay over the action of the group as main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), though without substantiation, accused the group of buying the forms as bribe for President Buhari to compensate them after victory beginning from 2019.

ThisDay Newspaper had also taken part in the criticism as it said in two editorials that the action of the Sanusi Musa-led group contravened sections of the Constitution regarding funding of elections and called on President Buhari to reject the forms.

The DEFENDER reported earlier Friday that Musa saying, as a lawyer and member leader of the group, it was done 2015 without any of them receiving any appointment as compensation but that they had made up their minds to do it again because their action is based on selfless effort to make the President consolidate on his achievements so far.
