“If the governor was so sure that his hands were clean, why did he have to restlessly obstruct investigations into such heinous evils that one day will still be visited?  To me, nobody should plot anything for Wike but I should let him know that one day, the blood politics he is playing will deny him and he will be left with himself in facing the irresistible reality right from the life of this world.  That day will come except he is free of all of the atrocities that have been hung on him.  Yet this same man had carried out many kangaroo probe panels with which he wanted the Law of the Land to give him backing in destroying the persons of other politicians but he can never want such law to have its way over him.  Let’s wait and see,” Ayungbe said.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has raised an alarm over an alleged plot by the Federal Government to frame him.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor said there was a plan to give him the similar treatment given to late Chief Diepreiye Alamieyeseigha, a former governor of Bayelsa, by planting illegal items on him in any of his trips outside the shores of Nigeria, and have him quizzed and embarrassed by foreign security agencies.

In a statement he termed the alleged plot as ‘Alams treatment’, signed by his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, he said this was revealed after investigations by the Rivers State Government.

“My investigation reveals that the Federal Government using her security agencies is planning to set me up anytime I am travelling outside the country. They plan to organise security to storm the hotel I am staying and say they found xyz cash in my possession; after which they would say I was arrested for currency trafficking or whatever offences outside the country.

“They will plan demonstrations to demonise me and claim I have gone outside to embarrass the country. The public odium is meant to smear me before my people and other Nigerians. It is unfortunate, wicked and unfair,” he said.

He said he felt the need to alert the nation and the world about the plot although he is not intimidated.

“I am a law-abiding citizen of this country and countries I visit in the course of my work or holidays. I have never dabbled into anything illegal. So, any attempt to frame me up is bound to fail. They want to intimidate the opposition into silence as they are already doing with their so-called ‘looters’ list’. It won’t work. We can’t all be intimidated,’’ he said.

Governor Wike also called for support in the 2019 elections, adding that he has served the people diligently and efficiently.

“My works will speak for me. My projects will speak for. The People of Rivers State will speak for me by voting me back,” the governor said.

In the meantime, one of our Respondents, Olu Ayungbe, said the governor, who is known to be raising alarms of this nature after he must have committed an offence, has no need to alert on a plot to frame him as, according to him, many of such alarms in the past had turned out to be “tears of crocodile”.

He said, “Recall how Wike was alleged to have sponsored and threatened on recorded audio tape to kill officials of Nigerian Police and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and yet had earlier before then raised the alarms similar to what he has just raised now.  But in the end, the threat allegedly credited to his voice by the audio recording was carried out in the beheading of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Alkali, and others with an INEC official missing, during the last rerun national assembly elections in Rivers.

“Recall also that it was this same Wike, who frustrated investigations of the killings and other violent incidents that characterized the rerun elections.  Don’t forget how, after he had raised alarm that they were plotting to plan incriminating item in his Abuja house, he struggled hard later in Port Harcourt to stop the home search and arrest of a Judge in the midnight.  Although you the press people who should be on the side of the truth stood behind the governor by not putting across to him many of the questions that arose from that singular activity of his.  He claimed to be chief security of his state yet members of opposition party (APC) were being killed and he claimed he didn’t know.  Even where it was clear based on his earlier threat that police officers and men were killed, we all saw how he vehemently justified the killings, although he denied the audio recording linking him with those killings but he restlessly frustrated investigations into the killings.
