Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, said the United States Secretary of State, Mr. Michael Pompeo,  called him on Friday.

Pompeo’s phone call to Atiku, opposition’s candidate, came on the eve of Nigeria’s presidential election.

This was disclosed by Abubakar on his twitter page, @atiku on Friday.

According to him, Pompeo called him to re-affirm the international community’s support for a free and fair election in Nigeria.

“Earlier today, I received a call from US Secretary of State, @SecPompeo, who reaffirmed the international community’s commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria.

“Wishing you all a peaceful elections, wherever you are. God bless Nigeria,” he said on his twitter.

As at the time of filing this report, which was less than 24 hours to the presidential election, no information that the US Secretary of State also called the President of Nigeria and candidate of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), fueling confirmation in certain quarters that the America’s government under President Donald Trump actually wanted to work against effort of Nigeria’s State to get rid of corruption in its effort to take power back to “looters” of the country.

Although unperturbed, many Nigerians home and abroad are already saying wondering that Trump, who praised Buhari to high even with serious joy that Nigeria was now moving from high corruption index rate to a nation of high integrity, could have misfired in that he is working with regrouped gang up of looters against the same president he had praised.

In the meantime, Concerned Citizens Group said US government putting up a call to Atiku leaving out Buhari was an indication and confirmation of conspiracy against effort to fix Nigeria from the dilapidation of the past.

Chairman of the group, Mr. Wale Ogunyemi, made this known in his contribution at a meeting in Ogun State Friday night.
