The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) will run out of fuel needed to provide humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip in three days as a result of Israel’s blockade, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said on Sunday.

“In three days, UNRWA will run out of fuel, critical for our humanitarian response across the Gaza Strip. Without fuel, there will be no water, no functioning hospitals and bakeries. Without fuel, aid will not reach those in desperate need. Without fuel, there will be no humanitarian assistance,” Lazzarini said in a statement.

He urged all parties to the conflict and “those with influence over them” to allow fuel supplies into the Gaza Strip as soon as possible and to ensure that fuel is strictly used to provide the population with humanitarian aid. SPUTNIK
