After rejecting Belarus, on Sunday, as venue for negotiation offered his country by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zellensky, has finally agreed to talk at the same venue.

Zellensky’s reason for not wanting Belarus was that it is an ally of Moscow but when the heat on his country by the invading troops heightened, he did a rethink.

President Putin had Sunday put his country’s “nuclear deterrent forces” on high alert creating panic in the spines of the international community particularly the West that he might be up to a more dangerous steps.

However, a France 24 news broadcast in English and monitored in Nigeria by The DEFENDER had it that the furious Russian Leader gave the order while also accusing the West of taking “unfriendly” steps against his country.

Analysing the order, it was gathered that putting nuclear forces on high alert did not necessarily mean that Putting was going to use it but that it was only in line with his earlier warning to the West not to interfere with his war in Ukrain or they would face the consequences.

“If you go back to what he said on the even of the war, it is actually not entirely not surprising.  But, and of course, there has been this rising tension with some moves in Finland and Sweden expressing interest in NATO,” analyst on France 24 cable television network said.

This, it was said, drew the response from Russian government.

“Definitely the tensions are rising between Russia and the West, between Russia and NATO particularly.  So, it looks like we could be approaching a very dangerous moment here,” the analyst said.

In order to stop the killings of his people, although he had distributed weapons to them to defend themselves against the apparently fierce Russian troops, the Ukrainian President eventually soft-pedalled over his earlier insistence not to accept the venue offered by Putin for the talks opportunity.

He said he was now ready to talk.
