US’ President Trump calls Nigeria’s President Buhari on phone

President of United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump, Tuesday called his Nigeria’s counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari, on the telephone during which the two leaders commiserated with each other on fatalities in their countries, caused by Covid-19 pandemic.

President Trump is in the middle of crisis as the world obviously has made it clear to him that its leadership that had hitherto been under his country has shifted.  The many fights initiated by him against specific world powers including China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, and reported signing of agreement for Israel to occupy Gaza early July this year, amidst the widespread of coronavirus pandemic killing two thousand daily unending in America have worsened situation for him.

President Buhari Tuesday afternoon received a telephone call from the American President and they both shared ideas on how to successfully combat the health emergency, according to a statement issued and sent to The DEFENDER by Special Adviser to the Nigerian President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

President Muhammadu Buhari expressed condolences to the government and people of the United States over the fatalities recorded, and equally expressed worry at the high rate of deaths recorded across the world.

The associated negative impacts of the pandemic on the world’s economy also came up for discussion.

The Nigerian President lauded his American counterpart for the various initiatives adopted by his government to contain the further spread of the virus across the United States.

He indicated Nigeria’s readiness to cooperate with the United States to fight this common unseen enemy.

President Buhari informed that Nigeria had taken a number of proactive measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 across the country.

The President welcomed the valuable friendship and expressed appreciation to President Trump for reaching out at this time.  The caller’s words however were not known as it they were not contained in the statement.

Trump’s administration, as part of a calculated reach out to keep intact his country’s influence around the world, had two days ago promised through his Ambassador to fund the newly discovered anti Covid-19 cure in Madagascar with $2.5 million.
