U.S. deaths near 40,000 with over 740,746 coronavirus confirmed cases, Americans protest against lockdown

Conservative groups across the United States organized protests to local restrictions this weekend, even as the country surpassed 700,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus on Saturday.

Reports have it that Deaths in the country have now jumped further to near 40,000 precisely 39,158 while recoveries increased to 66,676 as of Saturday April 18, 2020.

Globally, number of deaths has jumped to 160,952 with confirmed cases now 2, 331,099 and recoveries 598,584.

The demonstrations, which have bubbled up in Maryland, Utah, Texas, California, Arizona, Washington and Colorado, come as several governors have taken steps to gradually reopen their states and ease restrictions.

Meanwhile, President Trump made inaccurate claims about the United States’ coronavirus testing in comparison to other countries during Saturday’s White House briefing, where he also complained at length about media coverage and criticism of his administration.
