“On a final note, we call on the media and we know that you, The DEFENDER guys are patriotic, but we need to speak to the minds of media which are sympathetic to Boko Haram, the same terrorists which once bombed some of their (media) offices in Kaduna, Abuja, to realize that without cooperating with the military, they are doomed.  No Press Act permits any media organization to compromise national security!” Ogunyemi said.

The Nigerian Army on Sunday said its troops had successfully detonated a bomb planted by Boko Haram insurgents on Kawuri-Alauri Road in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno.

In a Twitter post, the Army said that troops of the 222 Battalion on clearance operations defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) planted on the road by the insurgents.

“At about 1:00 p.m today, 13th January, 2019; gallant troops of 222 Battalion Konduga, on clearance patrol with the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Scanning Team, operating along Konduga-Aulari Road, recovered IED planted by Boko Haram terrorists along Kawuri-Aulari Road. The IEDs were successfully detonated,” it said.

In the meantime, many Nigerians, who spoke to The DEFENDER on the gallantry of military in the North East and other parts of Nigeria where criminals operated, have commended them for being dependable defenders and protectors of Nigerian territorial integrity.

One of them, who spoke on behalf of his Concerned Citizens Group in Ogun State, Wale Ogunyemi, said: “Now, we have a country where the military are not only the pride of the nation but also are dependable allies in nation-building.

“It is the reason we would like to urge the Armed Forces from the Chief of Defence Staff General Olonisakin to Chief of Army Staff General Buratai and all the service chiefs and the Police IG Idris not to be in despair by the ungratefulness attitude of some Nigerians who, instead of thank God for using the military to sustain their existence, are plotting with some useless human rights group against them.

“We the real citizens of Nigeria that you are protecting appreciate you.  Is that not enough?  We will continue to advocate support for you particularly the Army.  We will continue to let Nigerians know why people who leave the comfort of their homes deserve our respect away from the senselessness with which some people tend to relate with them.
