“The truth of the matter is that, leaving the other side of the dual carriage at Toll-Gate particularly undone has turned the entire route from Abule through Toll-Gate into nuisance as motorists especially commercial buses operators and Okada riders now take one-way killing people at some point and continuing to constitute threats to lives of people along the route.”

The Federal Government has been appreciated for the good job done so far along Lagos-Abeokuta Express from Oshodi to Abule Egba fully done on both sides and the one side of the dual carriage done from Abule Egba through Toll-Gate/Otta to the frontage of ShopRite on the highly utilized route.

They are, however, saying the government should “please help look at the other side of the carriage as, being undone, still makes the other side done almost ineffective as cars and commuter buses still get damaged by the deplorable state of the road while heavy utility vehicles still fall, especially container carrying trucks, causing inconveniences on the road from Abule through Casso-Kola-Alakuko to Toll Gate on the route.

One of the users of the road Malam Habeeb Atata, who also has property at Ifo, told The DEFENDER: “Although the contractors handling the road reconstruction posed a lot of hardship on us while doing what government intends to give us comfort as they drag so much on site, today I can tell you that the hitherto bad Owode-Ijako enroute Ifo is now fantastically done and done well regardless of the fact that it took them so many years to do the portion.

“Currently they are working the portion between Joju, just at the descent or foot of the Sango-Otta bridge, and Single/Sugar industrial area on the Lagos-Abeokuta road it has taken them too much time working on that portion and they have not eased traffic over there. Government department in charge of this road contract award should please inspect to ensure that the contractors do not snuff life out of people government is helping live good life before they eventually make the road good.

“This portion that is now becoming a nightmare, the Toll Gate/Otta axis before ShopRite, is so bad that vehicles are being damaged therein. If government is not ready for repairs, they should fill the holes because the situation there is causing hardship for the people.  The truth of the matter is that, leaving the other side of the dual carriage at Toll-Gate particularly undone has turned the entire route from Abule through Toll-Gate into nuisance as motorists especially commercial buses operators and Okada riders now take one-way killing people at some point and continuing to constitute threats to lives of people along the route.

“We thank government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, particularly under President Muhammadu Buhari, for listening to our cries after many years of past governments and doing the road. We are saying once again that, while we appreciate what has been done, we ask the government, the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) to please complete the other side of the Lagos-Abeokuta road so that we can fully sing hosanna of them,” the road user, Habeeb Atata, said.
