The annual assembly brings together Muslim leaders and representatives of Islamic organisations across the Southwest geopolitical zone to deliberate on issues affecting the Muslim Ummah and the organisation.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, and Southwest governors are among dignitaries expected at the 11th General Assembly of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), scheduled for November 15, 2026, at the University of Ibadan Central Mosque.

Chairman of the 2026 General Assembly Central Planning Committee, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olawale AbdulGhaniy, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan, adding that Governor Zulum would deliver the annual lecture at the gathering.

The annual assembly brings together Muslim leaders and representatives of Islamic organisations across the Southwest geopolitical zone to deliberate on issues affecting the Muslim Ummah and the organisation.

A major highlight of this year’s meeting will be the ratification of a change in the organisation’s leadership as the incumbent president completes his six-year tenure.

Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo assumed office as MUSWEN president on November 22, 2020, succeeding the late Dr. Sakariyau Olayiwola Babalola.

The planning committee chairman also appealed to Muslim philanthropists and other well-meaning individuals to support MUSWEN’s fundraising target of ₦2 billion to finance key projects aimed at improving the welfare of the Muslim community.

According to him, the proposed projects include empowerment programmes for less privileged members of the Ummah, the construction of a state-of-the-art health facility and the provision of scholarships for needy Muslim students.

MUSWEN serves as the umbrella organisation for Muslims in Southwestern Nigeria, with its primary member-organisations comprising Muslim communities and Muslim councils across the six states of the geopolitical zone.
