The union also disclosed that an agreement had been reached on the payment of 19 months of outstanding arrears owed to health workers.
“The agreement also detailed several other welfare interventions, including the payment of arrears for a peculiar allowance effective from May 2026, and the redemption of nineteen months of arrears for health workers,” the NLC added.
The NLC further urged state and local governments to consider introducing similar transport allowances for their workers to help ease the burden of the prevailing economic hardship across the country.
