Tinubu appoints new helmsmen for FIRS, NSIPA, NCFRMI

The appointment of Zacch Adedeji as the new Acting Executive Chairman of the Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has been approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This was made known in a statement issued in Abuja by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, dated September 14, 2023 and copy of which was obtained by The DEFENDER on Thursday.

Two separate other statements, announcing the appointment of heads of National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA) and National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), were also released same day.

According to the Presidential Spokesman, President Tinubu directed the man in the office before the new decision, Mr. Muhammad Nami, to proceed on three months of pre-retirement leave with immediate effect, as provided for in the Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243, with immediate effect, pending his eventual retirement from service on December 8, 2023.

The Thursday’s statement said that Adedeji was appointed in an acting capacity for 90 days before his subsequent confirmation as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service for a term of four years.

“Zacch Adedeji is a first-class graduate in accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University. He most recently served the nation as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue, following meritorious service terms as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and as the Executive Secretary / CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).

“By these directives of the President, the new appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement said.

NSIPA

In the meantime, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mrs. Delu Bulus Yakubu as the pioneer National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), pending Senate confirmation.

The National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA) (Establishment) Act, 2023, was signed into law on May 22, 2023.

Mrs. Delu Bulus Yakubu is a recipient of a Masters degree in agronomy from the State University of Bio-Technology in Kharkiv, Ukraine, with over 15 years worth of working experience in Social Investment Programme management.

President Tinubu expects the new appointee to convey the highest level of efficiency, transparency, and qualitative service delivery at NSIPA, in his determination to actualize the Renewed Hope agenda of his administration.

NCFRMI

President Bola Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mr. Aliyu Tijani Ahmed as the new Federal Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).

Mr. Aliyu Tijani Ahmed is a recipient of Bachelors and Masters degrees in Sociology and has previously served the Nasarawa State Government as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG); Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs; and as the Commissioner of Education.

By this directive of the President, the appointment takes immediate effect.
