There will be no resting for us until we see Nigeria of our own, Buhari tells Nigerians at Sallah

*Let’s keep Nigeria together – President

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on all Nigerians to rise against the odds, keep their prejudices aside and strengthen the bonds of friendship and unity in order to keep the country together.

President Buhari made this call on Thursday in his Eid-l-Kabir message to the country.

The President likened the country to a tree that can bend but cannot break.

He said all Nigerians “must learn to see ourselves as brothers and sisters from the same heritage who must come to terms with the African proverb that ‘a family tie is like a tree, it can bend but it cannot break.’

He assured that his administration which, he noted, had made the security, economic well-being and prosperity of all Nigerians its priority, “will not rest on its oars until we see the Nigeria of our dream.”

President Muhammadu Buhari, who felicitated with all Nigerians particularly the Muslim faithful on the celebration of this year’s Eid-El-Kabir, also congratulated all those who are currently in Saudi Arabia to participate in the rites of the Hajj.

He thanked all Nigerians who prayed for his recovery and those who had continued to extend their goodwill after his return from his medical vacation in London.

He said Nigerians’ fervent and sincere prayers, which cut across religion, political and ethnic divides, had energised him to re-dedicate himself and his administration to the task of building a great Nigeria.

“For Muslims all over the world, this celebration is to commemorate the trials and triumph of Prophet (Abraham) Ibrahim,” the President said.

Buhari said he believed “that our nation can make rapid progress on all fronts if we re-enact the exemplary virtues, typified by Prophet (Abraham) Ibrahim, through his sacrifice, patience, steadfastness, generosity and obedience to Allah’s command and constituted authority.”

President Buhari wished everyone happy Sallah celebrations.
