The new Russian Measures Order, signed on Friday by US President Joe Biden, bans the export, sale, and delivery of dollar bills from the United States to Russia, the White House said.
This document will allow in the future to impose restrictions on investments in any sector of the Russian economy, the White House added.
“The order will create the legal authority for future restrictions on investment (by US individuals and entities) in any sector of the Russian economy,” the statement said.
It notes that the decision on which industry should be subject to restrictions will have to be made by the head of the US Treasury after consultations with the country’s secretary of state.
