The oil block politics of 2015 and unimpressed agitators this time around, by Zara Gift Onyinye

Around 2013, the oil block politics was allover social media.

Back then the story that was allover social media was how Northerners have a large chunk of our oil wells and are feeding fat from our commonwealth.

We southerners were asked to vote for GEJ because he will balance the inequalities by giving southerners oil wells.

Now truth be told, I checked the list of oil block owners and saw a lot of northerners there but I didn’t allow that to sway my vote. I voted PMB and I have no regrets.

PMB has said that he won’t renew oil block licenses, meaning most of the northerners won’t own oil blocks again.

Isn’t this supposed to be a cheery news for the South South and South Eastern warriors clamoring for equity in the oil block sector?

Aren’t we supposed to celebrate this as a positive news of a man who wants to right the wrong done by past leaders?

IBB, Abdul Sallam, OBJ, Atiti, all shared oil blocks. It was even alleged by Wole Soyinka that OBJ gave his mistresses oil blocks in exchange for sex.

Today PMB has said the licences won’t be renewed, you would think South South and South Easterners would be the happiest but no.

The thieves that want business as usual are busy sowing the seeds of lies to sway the masses.

Don’t listen to them.

PMB means well and we stand to benefit massively from this move.

A vote for PMB is a vote for equity and justice.

Don’t let the thieves sway you.

May Nigeria succeed.
