Nigeria’s young but fast growing online newspaper, The DEFENDER, is at the final stage of plan to open its main office in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This was made known by President of the media organisation, AIG Mu’azu Idris Hadejia (Rtd), who spoke in Abuja, on Wednesday on “the dire need for the now much relevant journalism business to have its main presence” in the nation’s seat of power.

AIG Idris, who commended the effort of the editorial team of the media outfit, said, “If we have an organisation like this, which is clear in his mission to make a difference in online journalism in Nigeria and beyond away from the junks that the online media sector has been made to look by those who cannot separate between social media and online journalism, it is very imperative that we make more presence in and around the nation’s capital to prove ourselves the more.”

Hadejia said, “A serious business like The DEFENDER must be supported businesswise and morally not only to grow but, more particularly, to achieve sustainable success,” he said.

The DEFENDER Newspaper, presently opperating as online media, was established in 2002 following his registration with the National Library as a Nigerian print media organisation and has since then operated under the guidance of quality-based Nigerians who give it the free hands to operate to the best of its knowledge of patriotic journalism.

On the board of advisors of the media organisation since establishment in 2002 are Mu’azu Idris Hadejia, former Chairman, Vanguard Newspapers, Chief Kola Animasaun, Alhaji Babatunde Jose, who had made his mark as father of Nigerian journalism as Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Times of Nigeria (now late), a business magnate, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad and one other.
