Buhari, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu: Story of a President and his dependable aids.

*Says, “There is no cause for worry over my health.”

Some social media interlocutors, who thronged a Facebook activist’s wall had however noted that those who rumoured President Muhammadu Buhari’s death at a time he only told Nigerians that he was going on 10-day annual leave and that he would undergo some medical checkups knew what they did that they only expected him to die at a particular time.  They however posited that their evil plot had been rendered useless and neutralised by Almighty Allah, The DEFENDER reports.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reassured Nigerians that though he is still resting, there is no cause for worry over his health condition.

President Buhari gave the assurance on Saturday in a telephone conversation with his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

Adesina, in a statement on his twitter handle, @FemAdesina, said the President thanked him for holding out against mischief makers.

“Spoke with PMB a short while ago. Glad to hear his voice. Told me he was resting, but no cause for worry. Said I should greet my family.

“Thanks for holding out against mischief makers, PMB tells me during a phone call today. Said he would call again soon. Gave him best wishes,” Adesina wrote.

This is the first time the presidential spokesman has spoken with his boss since the latter embarked on vacation in the United Kingdom on January 19.

Buhari later extended his 10-day vacation in order to complete and receive results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.

On Tuesday, the presidency disclosed that during Buhari’s normal annual checkups, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating him stay longer than originally planned.

Adesina, who spoke with State House correspondents, did not stipulate the period of time the resting would last.

“I speak for somebody; I do not speak for myself. So it is what he tells me to say that I say and the statement transmitted to me is that the President needs to rest for some further time,” he said.

The presidential aide stated that he was not in the position to talk about the nature of the President’s illness, stressing that the Hippocratic Oath even forbids a doctor from speaking about the condition of his patient except the patient authorises it.

The President last Wednesday called the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, during a special prayer session for his speedy recovery at the Government House Kano.

The governor, during the call, placed the phone on speaker for the gathering to listen as the president said: “I’m much better now and I thank you for the prayers and indeed the entire Nigerians.”

Thereafter, the governor said the President needed the prayers of Nigerians for a speedy recovery.

Before then, White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer confirmed to journalists that United States President, Donald Trump and Buhari spoke on phone. But there were insinuations in Nigeria that Trump did not call Buhari.

Spicer said: “In addition to his in-person meetings with the prime ministers of Japan and Canada, the President also recently had phone calls with the presidents of Tunisia, Peru, Nigeria, Colombia and South Africa,” noting that the printout of the calls were available.

On his part, Femi Adesina, said both leaders spoke.

Also, 84-year-old Rakiya Adamu, the only surviving sister to Buhari, told the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN), in their home town of Daura in Katsina State, that she spoke with the president daily and that he was in high spirit.
