Sultan receives EU-Funded Action Against Hunger Project Team in Sokoto

Speaking earlier during the visit, the team leader and Country Director of Action Against Hunger, Thiano Samba Diallo, said the delegation was at the palace to appreciate the Sultan for his support since the commencement of the project earlier in the year.
The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, on Monday September 21, 2026, received the supervision team of the European Union-funded Action Against Hunger (ACF) project being implemented in Sokoto State.
The Sultan, who received the team at his palace, commended the organisation for the achievements and impact of the project, particularly in the areas of peacebuilding, social cohesion and improved access to essential services.
He assured the team of his continued support and cooperation, stressing that the Sultanate would continue to support non-governmental organisations working to improve the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people of Sokoto State and Nigeria.

Diallo disclosed that the EU-funded intervention was designed to run for 18 months across 10 Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.
He said communities benefiting from the intervention were actively participating in the project and were already experiencing its impact through various interventions.
The Action Against Hunger Country Director also introduced members of the delegation to the Sultan.
They included Thomas Hugonnier, Director of Global Operations, ACF France; Andualem Fekadu, Deputy Country Director, ACF Nigeria; and Alphee Anderson Kaboue, North-West Coordinator, ACF, alongside other members of the organisation’s Sokoto field office.
The delegation’s visit was part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions and acknowledge the support of the Sultanate in advancing humanitarian and development interventions across the state.
