Sultan of Sokoto condoles with family, Oyo State, over Soun of Ogbomoso’s death

The Sultan of Sokoto, Dr. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has condoled with the family, people of Ogbomoso and government of Oyo State over the death of Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III, which occurred on Sunday 12 December 2021 at the age of 95.

Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, in a statement signed by Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad Maccido, Danburam Sokoto and Secretary to the Sultanate Council Sokoto, having received what the statement described as “sad news of the demise of his colleague and brother”, described the deceased as patriotic and strong custodian of African values, history, culture and tradition who lived an eventful life worthy of emulation.

“Accordingly, his passing away is indeed a great loss not only to his family, the Ogbomoso Kingdom and Oyo State but also to the entire Nation.  His legacies, wisdom and contribution to the development of peace and unity of the nation and humanity in general will continuously be remembered,” the Sultan said.

Maccido said: “He joins millions of sympathisers to commiserate with family of the deceased, entire people of Ogbomoso Kingdom and Oyo State over this great loss and prays to Allah (SWA) in His infinite mercies to grant him Aljannah Firdaus and give his family and all of us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, amen.”
