Sultan of Sokoto directs Nigerian Muslims to search for Safar 1448AH new moon Tuesday
It requested Muslims to begin the search for the new moon on Tuesday July 14, 2026 and report any sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultanate Council through the Moon Sighting Committee.
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on the Muslims across the country to search for the new moon of Safar 1448AH on Tuesday, 14th July, 2026, corresponding to the 29th day of Muharram 1448AH.
The call is contained in a press statement by Wazirin Sokoto and the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu.
