The Sultan of Sokoto and Co-President, World’s Religions for Peace, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has felicitated with his friend of decades and former Secretary General of Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, on his 90th birthday anniversary.

Although the ex-diplomat clocked 90 January 20, 2023 this launching into the nanogenarian club of senior citizens, the Sultan – despite not subscribing to celebrating birthday by virtue of being custodian of culture of Sokoto Caliphate and Islamic faith in Africa’s most populous country – wrote a letter accompanied by a gift and presented to him at his Victoria Island, Lagos residence on Sunday February 12, 2023.

Represented by the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos, His Royal Highness Dr Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, the Sultan wished Chief Anyaoku a very happy birthday and more prosperous days alive.

Emeka Anyaoku, a distinguished statesman and diplomat, was born on January 20, 1933, in Okrika, Rivers State Nigeria, and has spent a good part of his nine decades on earth making a profound impact on the world through his tireless work in diplomacy and politics.
