Sultan declares Tuesday 11th September 2018 as 1st Muharram, 1440 AH

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Tuesday 11th September, 2018 as the 1st day of Muharram 1440AH.

By implication, Tuesday 1st Muharram marks the beginning of New Islamic Year for Muslims all over the world.

The declaration was contained in a statement signed by Alhaji Yahaya M. Boyi, Secretary Advisory Committee on Religious Matters to the Sultanate Council Sokoto, copy of which was made available to the press on Monday.

In the meantime, Muslims have been wished a happy new Islamic calendar as they are urged to seize the opportunity of the new year starter to pray for the Nigeria, the leadership and the entire people of Nigeria.
